Download and install Allway Sync, if necessary.
Configure Allway Sync to synchronize your data and ensure that everything works as you expect.
For example, we setup automatic synchronization every 5 minutes:
Download and install AlwaysUp.
Start AlwaysUp.
Select Application > Add to open the Add Application window:
On the General tab:
In the Application field, enter the full path to the Allway Sync executable, syncappw.exe.If you installed Allway Sync in the default location, this will be:
C:\Program Files\Allway Sync\Bin\syncappw.exeIn the Start the application field, select Automatically, but shortly after the computer boots option. This tells Windows to launch Allway Sync about 2 minutes after your computer boots — to ensure that all important services are upby the time file synchronization starts.
In the Name field, enter the name that you will call the application in AlwaysUp.We have stick with Allway Sync but you can specify another name if you like.
Click over to the Logon. Enter the user name and password of the Windows accountin which you installed and configured Allway Sync. The program must run in this account so that it can find its settings.
On the Startup tab:
Check the Ensure that the Windows Networking components have started box. This tells AlwaysUp that file synchronization needs the TCP/IP networking stack to operate.
We also recommend checking both the Stop all copies of the application running on this computer andAlso whenever the application is restarted boxes. Those options will ensure that another copy of Allway Sync won't prevent the instance launched by AlwaysUp from starting properly.
We are now done configuring the Allway Sync as a Windows Service so click the Save button to record your settings.
In a couple of seconds, an application called Allway Sync will show up in the AlwaysUp window. It's not yet running though and the state will be "Stopped":
Before we start Allway Sync as a Windows Service, we should adjust a few settings. To do so:
Start Allway Sync if necessary (Start button > Allway Sync)
Select Options from the View menu to open the Options window.
Uncheck Automatically check for software updates.Automatic updates can cause problems if an update goes wrongwhen you're not around. Best to upgrade the software manually, at a time of your choosing.
Uncheck Start application in system notification area on system startup. That option is no longer necessary asAlwaysUp will start Allway Sync as a service well before you log on.
If Allway Sync is running, close it now by clicking its tray icon and selecting Exit from the menu.
To start Allway Sync from AlwaysUp choose Application > Start "Allway Sync".In a few seconds, the state should change to "Running".
Click the green circle icon to show a few details of the running process:
Note that you won't see Allway Sync's tray icon because the program will be running invisibly in the background(in the isolated Session 0).However file synchronization will work just fine. Now is a great time for you to confirm that!
If you do need to interact with Allway Sync — to view or change settings — you should:
Stop Allway Sync in AlwaysUp.
Start Allway Sync normally on your desktop.
Make your changes.
Exit Allway Sync.
Restart Allway Sync under AlwaysUp, to resume 24x7 operation.
That's it! Next time your computer boots, file synchronization will start immediately, before anyone logs on.
We encourage you to edit Allway Sync in AlwaysUp and check out the many other settings that may be appropriate for your environment. For example, send an email if Allway Sync crashes, setup a weekly restart to keep things "fresh", and more.
